Most wanted CSCS cards

CSCS Labourer Card 

To get this card you must hold the Level 1 Award in H&S  in the Construction Environment Certificate and pass the CITB HS&E Test for Operatives.

CSCS Skilled Worker Card 

To get this card you must hold NVQ Level 2 related to your trade and pass the CITB HS&E Test for Operatives.

CSCS Supervisor Card 

To get this card you need the NVQ Level 3 / Level 4 in Supervisory Occupations  and pass the CITB HS&E Test for Supervisors and Managers.

CSCS Manager Card 

To get this card you need the NVQ Level 6 / Level 7 in construction management  and pass the CITB HS&E Test for Supervisors and Managers.

ECS cards are issued by the JIB as a way to recognise and verify the competency of electrotechnical operatives working in the UK. If you are looking to work on a construction site, you won’t be able to without a valid ECS card.

ECS Labourer Card

This card is for those who assist qualified electricians. To get this card you need qualifications  such as C&G 2365, 2330 or 2360 (or EAL equivalents) and pass the ECS H&S Test. If you don’t hold a JIB-approved electrical theory qualification, you’ll need the IOSH Working Safely.

ECS Related Discipline

The Related Discipline card is for those who their work is typically aligned to or in support of the electrical industry but is not already covered by a core ECS card. To get this card you need to pass the ECS H&S Test and provide a detailed job description from your employer.

Gold Card
Installation Electrician Gold Card

The Installation Electrician ECS gold card is for NVQ Level 3 skilled individuals who work unsupervised on the installation, commissioning and maintenance of low voltage electrical and electronic devices and appliances in a consumer’s electrical installation.

JIB is affiliated to the CSCS Registration scheme, and provides CSCS Health & Safety registration SmartCards to operatives employed in plumbing and mechanical engineering services and related sectors.

Most wanted JIB cards

The Plumbing Related Occupations card is intended for workers who will not be doing actual plumbing or pipe fitting, but will be doing related work (not involving gas lines) on a construction site.  To get this card youmust pass the CITB HS&E Test for operatives.

Labourer JIB Card

The Labourer JIB card is intended for plumbing operatives of a basic, general type. They will usually be employees, who are labourers, mates or general operatives. To get this card you need to pass the CITB HS&E test for operatives or hold a CCNSG Passport to Safety.

Work Experience JIB Card

The Work Experience JIB card was developed to allow students who are studying for a plumbing and heating qualification of some other kind to access carded areas of a worksite, though they must be supervised whilst doing so. To get this card you must have completed the JIB-PMES or CITB HS&E test, or have completed relevant HS&E training programme.

Plumber JIB Card

The Blue (Plumber) JIB card is intended for fully qualified operatives who have the training, Health and Safety classes and experience necessary to work as a plumber on a construction site or other carded area. To get the Blue (Plumber) JIB Card certification, you’ll need to have achieved a Level 2 NVQ of a plumbing-related type, or a plumbing-related City and Guilds certificate.

The CPCS Card (Construction Plant Competence Scheme) shows that the holder has the training and skills needed to be employed as a plant operator within the UK’s construction industry. Over 150,000 people carry a CPCS card and it is the most widely recognised as the preferred card to comply with codes of practice for competence and certification. It is required to operate on most types of plant on UK Contractors Group (UKCG) sites throughout the UK.

Trained Operator CPCS Card

The Red CPCS card shows employers that you have the skills required to operate a particular category of plant on a construction site, but that you still lack extensive practical experience in doing so. To get this card, you must pass the CITB HS&E test and CPCS Practical test.

Competent Operator CPCS Card

The Blue (Competent Operator) CPCS card shows that you are competent to operate a particular type of plant. To qualify for this card you need to hold a red CPCS card, have earned NVQ Level 2 relevant to the category of card you are applying and pass the CITB HS&E test.

Today, nearly all employers in the UK’s construction industry require new hires in the demolition field to have the appropriate CCDO card before they can begin work on-site, and in many cases before they will be considered for a position.

Labourer CCDO Card

The Labourer CCDO card is intended for demolition workers with little or no on site experience.To gain a Green (Labourer) CCDO card, you will have to have successfully completed an Asbestos Awareness Course and the Demolition Awareness one day course with level 1 NVQ exam at the end and pass the CITB HS&E Operatives Test.

Demolition Operative

This card is for workers which have greater technical understanding of the Demolition Industry.To gain this card you must hold a Trained Operative Demolition and Refurbishment Operative Card , hold the Level 2 Demolition NVQ, hold Asbestos Awareness Certificate and pass the HS&E Touch Screen Test.

The SKILLcard is for those working in heating, ventilating, air conditioning and refrigeration industry, including ductwork and other specialisms associated with the building engineering services industry – such as service and facilities, domestic heating and plumbing, and refrigeration and air conditioning.

(CRO) SKILLcard

The White (CRO) SKILLcard is intended for operatives who perform work that is related to the HVACR contracting industry, but is of a specialisation for which no NVQ or SVQ currently exists, and to which no existing units are relevant. To gain this card you’ll need to have already passed the HS&E CITB Test and also an employer’s endorsement will be required.

(Mate) SKILLcard

The Green SKILLcard is intended for those who perform basic HVACR work. This card is suitable for: Domestic Heating Fitter’s; H&V Craftsman’s; Plumber’s; Refrigeration/Air Conditioning Technician’s/Engineer’s; Service and Maintenance Assistant. To gain this card, you’ll need to have already passed the HS&E CITB Test for Operatives.
